Federal Polytechnic Oko Lecturers to Resume Work on Monday, as ASUP calls off two weeks warning strike

Federal Polytechnic Oko Lecturers to Resume Work on Monday

December 14, 2024

The Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP) has directed lecturers of Federal Polytechnic Oko to resume work on Monday, December 16, 2024. This decision comes after a conciliation meeting between ASUP and the government, facilitated by the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment, resulted in a new memorandum of understanding.

The two-week warning strike, which began on December 2, 2024, was a response to the government's failure to address several issues affecting the polytechnic community, including the execution of a jointly developed work plan to resolve pending trade disputes.

ASUP has emphasized that the suspension of the strike is conditional, and an indefinite strike may still occur if the government fails to meet their demands. The union has urged the government to take concrete steps to address the outstanding issues.

Lecturers and students of Federal Polytechnic Oko are expected to resume academic activities on Monday, December 16, 2024.

Stay tuned for further updates on this development.
