A dramatic scene unfolded at Apapa House, a lodge for students of Federal Polytechnic Oko, when a thief was caught and beaten by students after stealing two phones.
According to an eyewitness, the thief entered the lodge and stole an iPhone 12 Pro and an Android phone. The owner of one of the stolen phones, a female student, noticed her phone was missing and raised an alarm. Students quickly rallied around her and chased the thief, catching and beating him in the process.
The anti-cult unit arrived at the scene and took the thief into custody. When questioned, the female student explained that she was playing music connected to her Bluetooth speaker when her phone suddenly disconnected. She rushed outside and saw the thief attempting to jump over the fence. She quickly alerted others, leading to the thief's capture.
The incident has sparked debate among students about the effectiveness of security measures in place and the need for vigilance in protecting personal property.
